Why being close matters
When your car needs a diagnosis, the drive to the shop matters. A car that's overheating, misfiring or showing a flashing check-engine light shouldn't be driven far. Being close lets St. Martin customers get the car in before a small problem gets bigger, and it makes pickup easier when the work is done.
Timing chains: the repair you don't want to put off
Many modern BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover engines use timing chains with plastic guides and hydraulic tensioners. As they wear, you'll often hear a rattle for a second or two on a cold start, or get cam-timing fault codes. Left too long, a chain can skip a tooth or break, and the repair grows from guides and tensioners to major engine work.
- A rattle on a cold start that goes away
- A check-engine light with camshaft or crankshaft correlation codes
- Rough running or a loss of power after a cold start
If you hear it, call us. Getting it checked early is almost always the cheaper path.
Everyday maintenance close to home
Not every visit is a big job. Oil service, brake inspections, fluid changes and service-light resets keep a European car on its manufacturer's schedule. Having a shop nearby makes it easier to stay on top of them.
